1. argue vi.&vt. 意爲“爭論；辯論”。作不及物動詞時，常用於argue about sb.,同某人爭論某事。

2. hunt for 意爲“搜索；追尋；尋找”，後接名詞、代詞或V-ing形式作賓語。
The scientists are trying to hunt for a new way to control bird flu.
科學家們正在設法尋找一種新的辦法來控制禽流感。
3. care about 意爲“擔心；關心”。後接名詞、代詞或V-ing形式作賓語。
In our class we care about/ for each other.
在班上，我們互相關心。
4. be into 通常用於口語，意爲“對……深感興趣；深深迷上……”，這裏into是介詞，其後接名詞、代詞或V-ing形式作賓語。
Don’t be into computer games， it’s bad for you.

5. as much/many as ...意爲“和……一樣多”。
The young man has spent as much as he earned this month.
這個年輕人花光了他這個月掙的錢。

6. make/be friends with sb. 意爲“和某人交上/成爲朋友”。
I hope you are pleased to be friends with me. 我希望你樂意做我的朋友。
7. ...意爲“把……視爲（看作）……”與regard / think of / ...意思相同。
Don’t treat me as a child. I’m sixteen, after all.

8. admit vt. 意爲“承認；允許進入”。

9. when(suddenly)...意爲“正在……這時（突然）……”，其後接一個狀語從句。
We were having our English Evening when suddenly the light went out.
10. drop sb. a line=write sb.a short letter 意爲“給某人寫封短信”。
