英語日記最重要的就是要正確書寫日記的格式，尤其是在考試中，日記的格式相當重要。英語日記的格式與漢語日記的格式大致相同，在每篇日記的第一行寫上日期、星期和天氣，接下來寫內容。日期、星期和天氣的書寫要注意以下幾個方面：
1、年、月、日都寫時，通常以月、日、年爲順序，月份可以縮寫，日和年用逗號隔開。例如：December.18.20xx或者Dec.18.20xx.
2、如果要寫星期，星期要緊挨日期，它既可以放在日期前面，也可以放在日期後面，星期也可以省略不寫。星期和日期之間不用標點，但要空一格，星期也可縮寫。例如：Thursday Dec.18.20xx或Dec.18.20xx Thursday
3、天氣情況必不可少。天氣一般用一個形容詞如：Sunny，Fine，Rainy，Snowy等表示。天氣通常位於日記的右上角。

用英語寫日記應注意哪些方面的問題呢？
1、注意日期、星期和天氣的書寫位置。
日期和星期要寫在正文的左上角，其順序多是“星期 + 月、日、年”，也有把星期放在後面的，如“20xx年11月22日，星期一”可寫爲“ Monday November 22.20xx 或 November 22.20xx Monday ”。天氣情況應寫在正文的右上角，如：Fine，Rainy，Cloudy，Windy 等。
2、關於標題的書寫。
在日期和天氣的下一行中間可以寫上日記小標題，也可以不寫標題。
3、關於正文的`書寫。
正文是關於一天生活的記載，也是日記的主題。在書寫正文時要做到：
1 ）要選擇當天感受最深刻、最有意義的事件來描述，不要寫成簡單的流水帳；
2 ）日記的內容多是親身經歷和耳聞目睹的事情，所以要用第一人稱來寫；
3 ）日記多是在當天晚上來記述當天發生過的事情，因爲動詞時態常使用過去時，但使用時必須靈活掌握，如景物描寫、議論某事、對話引語等要使用現在時態；
4 ）日記應以時間發生的先後順序來展開，並且要簡明扼要，條理清楚，寫出真實感。
